Catholic Schools 黑料社 invites you to register for the 2026 Education Law Symposium, to be held at the Hilton Hotel Sydney on Monday, 6 July.

The theme of this year's symposium is Catholic School Governance: Stewardship and Service. 

We encourage leaders across Catholic education, including professionals involved in managing and governing Catholic schools, systems, and agencies, to attend.

The event will be an enriching professional development experience, delivering the latest policy and regulatory updates, and reflections on governance and Mission leadership.

This year's symposium will include keynote addresses and panel sessions on:

  • Safeguarding
  • Staff wellbeing, duty of care, managing risk
  • Created and Loved
  • Codes of conduct, hate speech regulations, fit and proper person requirements
  • Technology and AI
  • Not-for-profit requirements.

Tickets for the Symposium are $295, with payment required upon registration.

Catholic Schools 黑料社 invites you to a webinar on the topic of Supporting the Attendance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Students in Catholic Schools, on Tuesday, 26 May 2026. 

Open to Principals, Pastoral Care Leaders, and Attendance Officers who play a key role in shaping student engagement and wellbeing, this webinar will explore practical, culturally responsive strategies to improve attendance outcomes, strengthen relationships with students and their families, and foster school environments where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students feel supported.

Please note that this webinar is exclusively available to members of the 黑料社 Catholic education sector.

Help develop HSC exams and minimum standards test!

2027 HSC exam development

Teachers and academics with appropriate experience and qualifications are invited to apply for roles to develop 2027 HSC exams. 

Applications are now open for:

  • Chief Examiners (close 19 June)
  • Committee Members (close 7 August)
  • Assessors (close 12 November)

HSC minimum standard tests

We are also accepting expressions of interests (EOI) from teachers and academics with appropriate experience and qualifications, to develop test items for the reading, numeracy and writing HSC minimum standard tests.

Implementing Science 7鈥10 in 2026

The new  is being implemented in schools. A new  is available to help you understand and navigate the syllabus.

The 2018 Science 7鈥10 syllabus will not be available after December 2027.

A range of support materials are available to guide implementation of the new syllabus including:

  • The  supports the syllabus by providing the same data to all students as a foundation for learning. It emphasises conceptual understanding and the practical application of scientific ideas, presenting data as a basis for interpretation, analysis, evidence-based reasoning and problem solving through scientific investigation.
  • The  supports teachers to embed Working scientifically processes in their planning, with activities linked to focus areas and processes.
  • The  supports the teaching of depth study in Stages 4 and 5 of the Science 7鈥10 syllabus (2023). A depth study is any type of scientific investigation that provides students with an opportunity to pursue their interests and deepen their scientific understanding of one or more focus areas.

K鈥6 PDHPE syllabus spotlight: Self-management and interpersonal skills

A new  for the  is now available.

The spotlight video takes an in-depth look at how students will learn self-management and interpersonal skills from early childhood, supporting them to build healthy relationships across the classroom, playground and wider community.

Catholic Secondary Principals Australia (CaSPA) National Conference 2026 (Ref: 94/26)

Catholic School Principals Association of New South Wales will be hosting the Catholic Secondary Principals Australia (CaSPA) National Conference from Tuesday 7 to Friday 10 July, at the Hyatt Regency, Sydney. 

With the theme Inspiring Leadership: Celebrating Faith, Learning and Wellbeing, this conference offers the opportunity to reflect, connect, and collaborate with other leaders in Catholic education. Attendees are invited to engage in thought-provoking discussions, and explore ways to continue to inspire purpose, critical thinking, and hope in future generations of students.

Keynotes include Professor Br David Hall fms, Dallas McInerney, Daniella Falecki, Danielle Cronin, Dr Neil Carrington, Dr John Lee.

The deadline has been extended for the 2026 Schools Plus Teaching Awards, meaning applicants have till Friday, 15 May to submit applications. Don't miss out on this incredible opportunity!

The Schools Plus Teaching Awards is a national initiative celebrating teachers who are making a meaningful impact in some of Australia鈥檚 most disadvantaged communities.

The Schools Plus Teaching awards recognise educators who extend far beyond everyday teaching responsibilities. From helping students overcome learning barriers to creating supportive classrooms for learning, these teachers play a crucial role in helping young people thrive. In many cases, they are a consistent source of guidance and encouragement, influencing students鈥 lives in ways that reach well beyond academic achievement.
