
Governance training
Governance training for a Responsible Person is required by law in 黑料社.
Each person defined under The Education Act 1990 (黑料社) as a 鈥楻esponsible Person鈥 鈥 and any other person or body exercising similar functions in a school 鈥 must undertake initial and ongoing professional learning as a key aspect of proper governance.
Initial training must:
- include NESA-approved training program delivered by a NESA-approved training provider (such as CS黑料社) within three months of appointment as a 鈥楻esponsible Person鈥.
Ongoing training must:
- be delivered by a NESA approved training provider (such as CS黑料社).
- be at least 12 hours over three years.
Who are Responsible Persons?
Responsible persons for a school include:
- the proprietor of the school and, if the proprietor is a corporation, each director or person concerned in the management of the school
- a member of the governing body of the school
- the principal of the school.
Each responsible person for the school, and any other person or body having similar functions in relation to the school as those of such a responsible person, must be a fit and proper person or body. To be fit and proper for the role undertaken by Responsible Persons consideration should be given to, but not limited to,
- legal convictions
- financial management including any bankruptcy and insolvency
- convictions or charges in relation to children, dishonesty or violence
- any determination of not being fit and proper in any Australian state or territory
- immoral or unethical behaviour
- being a responsible person for a school or proposed school whose registration was cancelled or refused.
Our governance training
We provide NESA-approved online governance training for all Responsible Persons in Catholic schools and school authorities.
- The training consists of a series of one-hour online modules.
- Responsible Persons can access these governance training modules through .
We also host an annual NESA approved Education Law Symposium. Full attendance at the Symposium contributes to governance hours for Responsible Persons.
